Speak up and speak out

Do you learn better by sitting in a lecture, or standing up and taking part? In the Communication and Performing Arts program at Indiana University Kokomo at Indiana University Kokomo, you’ll take your learning to the next level and receive a hands-on education.

Our program will give you opportunities to create public relations campaigns for local community groups, perform in theatrical and musical ensembles, publish your work in IU Kokomo’s newspaper, The Correspondent, and engage in public events like debates and interview workshops.

The KEY Experience

At IU Kokomo, we believe in giving you the opportunity to take your learning outside of the classroom and into the real world. The KEY (Kokomo Experience and You) initiative offers Cougars the unique chance to gain first-hand, real-world experience and knowledge in the careers and fields they dream of entering.

As a Communications and Performing Arts student, you will be able to visit places like the Indiana Statehouse, to learn the ins and outs of being a press secretary, tour the Madame Walker Foundation and the Kurt Vonnegut Museum – or attend a performance of “The Addams Family Musical.” On KEY excursions, you’ll learn from working professionals how the classes you’re taking and the skills you’re learning translate to a wide field of careers!
