Application for Sabbatical Leave
Indiana University Kokomo
Sabbatical leaves are a well-established feature of faculty employment in American Higher Education. As with many institutions, Indiana University recognizes the value of such leaves to the mission of the institution, and as such University Policy ACA-47 (“Leaves for Academic Appointees”) provides relatively broad guidelines for eligibility and requirements for sabbatical requests. The purpose of a sabbatical, as established in ACA-47, is “to provide time for… scholarly research and creative activity and associated travel and to allow faculty to keep abreast of developments in their fields of service to the university”. Notably, ACA-47 states that “a proposed sabbatical leave will be approved upon a determination that the purpose of sabbatical leaves… will be achieved”.
