Bachelor of Science in Medical Imaging Technology
Do you want to be an integral part of a team that makes a difference in a patient's healthcare outcome? Are you ready to delve deeper into human anatomy and pathology? Do you have a desire to help people by using innovation and technology?
Medical imaging plays a vital role in the investigative phase of diagnosing and treating diseases and injuries through non-invasive procedures. Medical imaging technologists are health care professionals passionate about patient-centered care, adaptable to constantly changing medical care scenarios, detail-oriented and organized, and enjoy technological advancements in healthcare.
IU Kokomo is actively seeking healthcare professionals interested in high-demand fields of computed tomography (C.T.), echocardiography (ECHO), mammography (Mammo), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), PACS administration (PACS), ultrasound/sonography (U.S.), or vascular sonography (VS).
Join IUK faculty as they prepare you both clinically and didactically in the pursuit of an exciting and ever-changing career in medical imaging technology. Upon successfully completing the MIT program, students will be eligible to take modality-specific certification exams through national certification bodies (e.g., ARRT, ARDMS, PARCA).
Concentrations by Modality
Students enrolled in this program concentration are educated in computed tomography (CT). CT technologists use radiation to generate cross-sectional images of the structures in a body plane. While in the program at IU Kokomo, students will attend didactic and clinical courses. Students will advance their imaging skills to include advanced patient care, radiation safety measures, dose reduction techniques, and the application of CT principles.
