Challenging our community
Learning is never done; there is always another lesson or story that can expand horizons and change ideas. Indiana University Kokomo’s Multicultural Center supports our community by promoting the values of diversity, multicultural awareness, equity, and inclusion through Equity Challenges.
Students, faculty and staff are able to participate in Equity Challenges designed to support the advancement of cultural competence and encourage cross-cultural understanding and dialogue.
Equity Challenges range in length from 7 to 21 days, and are offered at various times of the year, usually in March. The Challenge is housed in an open course on the Canvas learning management system that allows participants to choose to engage for one day or for the entire challenge. Participants can also choose to engage in discussion boards and send individual private messages to the MCC.
Each Equity Challenge concludes with an optional in-person Lunch and Learn panel, where participants share what they experienced, what they were challenged by, and their ongoing work and commitment towards social justice and anti-racism.
