I was born in Spain and raised in the French part of Switzerland. I have lived in Ireland and Saudi Arabia before settling in the U.S. where I am now Professor of English and Chair of the English and Language Studies at Indiana University Kokomo. My research focuses on identity and belonging in terms of identity migration and hybrid cultural and national identities. My interests include Irish, British, and Anglophone literature as well as Galician literature and Gender Studies. My publications include a book, A Case Study of Ireland and Galicia’s Parallel Paths to Nationhood, several articles and book chapters on Irish literature and culture, papers on the scholarship of teaching and learning and creative writing pieces, including excerpts from my memoir in progress, Back to Galicia: The Immigrants' Daughter. I have received several teaching awards including IU Herman Frederic Lieber Award for Teaching Excellence, IU Kokomo Trustee’s Teaching Award, and IU Kokomo Claude Rich Teaching Award.
I teach undergraduate and graduate classes in literature, creative writing, and film.
