She earned her MA in English Rhetoric & Composition from Ball State University in 2019, where she completed her thesis "Throwing Pots and Pans: Exploring Silence and Marginalization in Rhetoric & Composition." She has worked in Writing Centers since 2015, starting here at IUK and continuing at Ball State under the directorship of renowned Writing Center scholar, Dr. Jackie-Grutsch McKinney. She returned to IUK's Writing Center as a tutor and mentor in 2020. Caitlyn's research focuses on marginalization in academia, cultural rhetorics, and decolonization pedagogies in both the First Year Composition classroom and Writing Centers. She brings a plethora of knowledge and expertise in Writing Center scholarship and best practices in peer tutoring. Caitlyn hopes to increase the visibility of the Writing Center on campus and maintain the stellar reputation it has earned under the leadership of its previous directors.
