Requesting a visit
Indiana University Kokomo requires a minimum of two weeks' written notice for school groups coming to use the Library. Use our online form to request a library visit, tour, or instruction session. If you have any questions regarding the request form, please contact the Dean of the Library, Yan He, at yh4@iuk.edu.
Library instruction
Instruction for IUCAT and library databases is available upon request. Instruction can also be tailored to a particular group's assignment or research needs.
Library cards and computing accounts
ACP students
High school ACP students are eligible for IU student IDs/CrimsonCards and computing accounts. We recommend obtaining your CrimsonCard while you are on campus. Bring a valid, government-issued photo ID with you for the card application.
Your CrimsonCard doubles as your IU Kokomo Library card and print card. Activate your CrimsonCard as your library card at the Circulation desk.
Additional questions about creating and configuring your CrimsonCard and IU account should be directed to the IU Kokomo UITS Support Center at kohelp@iu.edu or 765-455-9315.
Non-ACP students
Indiana Resident (INRE) borrower's cards can be issued for non-IU affiliated Indiana residents. Please indicate on the High School Visiting Group Request Form if you would like to apply for INRE borrower's cards. INRE borrower's cards can be issued for minors aged 16-17 and adults (18+). For minors aged 16-17, both parent/guardian and student signatures are required for cards to be prepared in advance of the library visit.
Computer Guest Accounts are also available for non-ACP students. Borrower's cards are required in order to obtain computer guest accounts. Please indicate on the High School Visiting Group Request Form if you will need computer guest accounts during your campus visit.
Note: Filtering software is not installed on Indiana University computers. Your students are expected to abide by their usual and customary school policies while using the Internet at Indiana University Kokomo. They are also expected to adhere to the Indiana University Appropriate Use of Information Technology Resources policy.
Parking
Parking for school buses is available in Lot G of the Observatory [see interactive map]. Students can be picked up/dropped off at either the East or West side of the library building.
One-day visitor parking permits for private vehicles may also be requested from the library. Please indicate on the High School Visiting Group Request Form if you will need a parking permit(s). We will send a parking permit as an email attachment, which you can print, before your visit.
Lunch
Visiting groups have the option to eat lunch in the Kelley Student Center. Please let the library staff know if your group will be having lunch on campus. If desired, the library will schedule the group with the cafeteria.
Student conduct
Prior to visiting the IU Kokomo Library, the teacher, school librarian, or group supervisor should review the Library's policies and incorporate relevant items (e.g. noise, cell phone, food/drink, etc. guidelines) that might affect their group into a set of general announcements regarding student conduct.
